Description: Offered monthly on Saturday mornings, this is a creative family program inspired by artworks currently on view. After a guided gallery experience, families head to the studio for a hands‑on project led by a teaching artist, where children become the artist and bring their ideas to life! Each session features a new theme, artwork, and artmaking experience. Designed for children ages 5–12. Preregistration is required. For this session, families will explore Françoise Gilot’s Indian Village Rajasthan (1977) and notice how bright colors, geometric shapes, and bold patterns work together to create a lively village scene. Together, participants will look closely at the energetic compositions and imaginative details that make Gilot’s work so vibrant. After spending time in the galleries, teaching artist Nancy Fried will lead a workshop inspired by Gilot’s playful approach to place and pattern. Families will design their own village or neighborhood, building houses, pathways, gardens, and landmarks using bold shapes and rich color. This hands-on session encourages storytelling, imagination, and joyful exploration of how shapes can build a world.
